Molson Great Canadian Fireworks Competition

Sherbrooke, October 30th 2000

To whom it may concern,

It gives us great pleasure to take this moment to highlight all the professionalism of Mr. Patrice Guy, production manager for the firm Garden City Display Fireworks of St-Catharines, Ontario.

Indeed, Mr. Guy has been taking part in this national competition for the last three years in the role of display operator/ head shooter.

We feel very proud to have had the opportunity to work with Mr. Guy who knows not only how to respect all the security requirements imposed by this very specific environment but who was also the winner of the top awards of last years only national competition in Canada.

It goes without saying that we do not hesitate to refer Mr. Guy to you and to confirm that he enjoys a most respectable and professional reputation.

Do not hesitate to communicate with us if you need additional information.

Sincerely yours,

Deny Grimard

I have just returned from Montreal after me and my son Clint
participated with one of my Irdieden in the China Day. The show was
very good and well organised. The music was well synchronised with the
fireworks and I want to congratulate Patrice Guy from Montreal for
this. He was the one behind the whole project and his ability is just
outstanding.

Regarding the Raddiena, this was similar to the one displayed at the
PGI last year. I am referring to the gear machine. Now it will be
called the Flower since this was the first ever Raddiena displayed in
Montreal and this is how the spectators referred to it. The Raddiena
worked well.

I end my mail by thanking all the people involved in the organisation
of the SAQ Mondial World Fireworks Competition and also to all who
helped me in this project.

Special thanks again to Patrice Guy, who introduced me to Montreal.
Thanks everyone.

Hope to participate next year with more Irdieden.

Regards.

Toni

So, a magnificent entry from the Chinese team from Hong Kong, designed by local artificier Patrice Guy.

I thought it was a very strongly themed display with a good range of intense and also serene momements. These are important in that they give the audience time to catch their collective breath.

The choreography was very well done with superb synchronization to the music - particularly the segment when sequenced lines of comets were fired in time to music on a harp - the lines of the comets visually representing the strings of the harp. The choice of music was also very well done and got an A+ from everyone I spoke to afterwards.

Many very beautiful shells, particularly the multi-splitting crossette stars and the broccade clusters, really filling the sky.

I heard some people say it was the best choreographed displayed they ever seen so much kudos to Patrice for an outstanding effort.

Finally, mention must be made of the Raddiena lovingly hand crafted by Toni Busuttil and his son Clint. An amazing amount of work and a unique item never seen before in Montreal. Great work indeed!

Paul.
